The game provides two character options, Eric and Ashley, and four basic class options: dual blade, knight, berserker and arch mage. The player starts the game by customizing the character. The appearance will not be a major consideration this time, as the characters in the game are shown on the screen as pixel mini figures. There is a full skill tree for each class though, thus the decision should be based on the player’s preferred fighting style.
Stone of Life adopts the usual dual-thumb control that is typical among most dungeon-crawling games. The thumbstick is for moving the character, while the button on the right is for initiating basic attacks and interacting with NPCs. Skill and potion shortcuts are located below the screen for quick launches. A nice feature is that the control interface can be rearranged and customized according the player’s force of habit.
